1st Easy announce “Cloud 2″ build-out at TeleData Manchester data centre,
creating unique commercial resilience

Manchester, 20th May 2014 —
1st Easy have announced that work on their second cloud infrastructure build-out has begun, after formally signing contracts to procure additional cabinet space within TeleData’s hardened security data centre in Manchester.

Investment within the highly resilient facility which has achieved BS 5979 for on-site security, forms the latest part of 1st Easy’s strategy to offer all-embracing commercial resilience to clients — from network, to platform, to data — in what will be a unique proposition among cloud infrastructure providers in the thriving technology hub of Manchester.

When completed shortly, the build-out across two geographically-and-supplier-diverse data centres will offer full disaster recovery and real-time data replication capabilities, demonstrating true independence at every layer of infrastructure — a critical requirement for organisations as increasing amounts of operational assets and application delivery over the Internet are outsourced to cloud environments.

Stephen Bell, co-founder of 1st Easy commented:

“We have been using TeleData for many years now and they have demonstrated overall reliability and a very high degree of security compliance in the design of their data centre operations; both key factors in our decision to use them for our second cloud build-out. As the only true ‘cloud capable’ data centre in the North West outside of the city centre’s critical disaster zone, our decision to expand into the facility was an obvious and easy decision.”

Matthew Edgley, Sales Director at TeleData remarked:

“We’re delighted to be extending our relationship with 1st Easy. Attracting such reputable cloud hosting providers, particularly those demonstrating the growth and potential of 1st Easy, is key to our own strategy and growth plans. The network availability and resilience on offer within our Manchester data centre makes us a very attractive proposition to this thriving sector and we look forward to long term partnerships with similar dynamic organisations who position themselves at the very forefront of the cloud hosting arena.”

1st Easy Limited host cloud computing and business networking event

Manchester, 28th January 2014 —
1st Easy held their latest cloud computing seminar and business networking event at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) on Wednesday evening.

Using his talk “From Water Wheels to… Cloud”, 1st Easy director Steve Bell explored how the enabling infrastructure that drives industry and business has evolved since the birth of the Industrial Revolution through to modern day.

Parallels were drawn between the early dependence on power provided by on-site generators that were expensive to build and maintain — along with the problems posed by scaling quickly in response to demand — with the challenges faced by businesses today that rely on unrestricted access to computing resources to power their operations.

Cloud computing, and in particular, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) was examined as a strategy that businesses could use to maintain growth and build competitive advantage by reducing costs, improving efficiency and introducing agility.

Following the presentation, a questions and answers session covered a range of topics from a discussion about the security of cloud, through to the consideration of capacity planning for cloud service providers, and the roll out of internet connectivity services to allow businesses to take full advantage of cloud technologies.

Attendees were also able to take advantage of the opportunity for informal networking, and one-to-one demonstrations of cloud data centres in action.

Steve Bell commented: “Events like tonight are a good opportunity for us to try and put the idea behind cloud into a more understandable context. A lot of the time, cloud is presented in purely technical terms, while the movement towards cloud as not only an IT strategy, but as a business strategy is put towards one side. Hopefully we’re doing our bit to redress this balance and show the real value of cloud.”
