This report summarises the network disruption that occurred yesterday evening (28/05/13).
The outage was caused by loss of power to one of our network distribution switches.
It appears that as part of work to install new router upgrades on Friday, we had unknowingly disturbed a power cable feeding this switch via the our new secondary UPS protection.
The secondary UPS was being “arc fed” over the weekend by the primary UPS (maintaining power in an unsustainable manner) and eventually failed, causing the power outage.
The power cable has been replaced and all services resumed.
